1/4" Shank Double Flute Carbide Router Bit for Surface Planing - Woodworking Tools

Only time will tell about the durability of this bit, but I like the design and construction of it very well. The cutting surfaces have a slightly inclined angle to the work surface which gives a slight amount of sheering action to the cut, nut just a straight on 90 degree "bang". This reduces the chance of tear out and generally results in a smoother, cleaner cut. The bottom full coverage makes these excellent for plunge cuts and/or slight surfacing.Well suited to hand held routers, bench mounted routers or CNC applications.Only time will tell about durability, but so far I'm impressed. These are much better than are many bargain bits IMO.I love woodworking and a router is an important tool to do many fancy and simple wood shaping tasks for me. When I work with wood I need properly sharpened high speed Router Bits that have Tungsten Carbide (TC) inserts on the edges to keep them sharp as they shape my wood, particle board or MDF. This is an industrial quality router bit with a 1/4" shank and 2 Tungsten Carbide (TC) Cutters with a 1/2" Diameter, straight profile and flat top suitable for a straight plunge cut with a clean hole bottom as well as surface planing.The bit is nicely marked on the shank and well cased. The cutter blade length is 20mm. Don't know how long it will hold its edges. Just the right size for a small hobby 3018 CNCThe bit comes sharp and well balanced with an accurate cutting width. The ¼ inch shank is a bit undersized for a bit of this size but should be okay if used with shallow passes against the material. The two cutting sides help keep the bit balanced and optimize the cutting speed. While bits of this size can be found in sets often time this would be a better option if you only need a few specific shapes/sizes.Good quality bit - well ground and balanced, and the carbide looks good. Nice smooth sharp grinding on this one.
